Mixing music on pc systems is all the rage nowadays, and for those of us that are more use to a large 64 track mixing desk this is all a little strange.
But I can certainly see the appeal; who really wants to spend hours and hours messing about with all manner of cables round the back of the mixing desk, before you can ever get to hear that brand new piece of outboard gear? With the new PC based mixing systems, you just call up a plug-in to your track and that’s it.
Once in a while I still jump back on the old desk just because I like the feel and the sense of control over the whole process.
I’d love to hear your thoughts of virtual compared to real work mixing.
