One thing to remember when miking electric guitar amps for your home studio project, is that the sound from the player’s point of view can be very different from what the miking system is picking up. So pro guitarists always make sure to get nice and low to the amp and check out what the mic is actually picking up.
Another option is to use a few books and tilt your electric guitar amp so that it’s pointing directly into your face. This will also give you a much better idea of the sound.
This tip has made it so much easier for me to produce consistent guitar sounds so give it a try and let me know how you get on.
