When miking a snare you may find you get a bloody awful ringing sound that cuts though your whole mix and sounds like crap. The first thing you should do is try and deaden the sound with some putty or tape and see if that makes the sound workable.
If you’re still not happy it’s time to break open the EQ and tweak the snare out. It may be quite tricky to isolate the sound so you may have to apply the effect in a couple of places.
Once you happy give the snare a little boost of mids to make sure it retains the power.
