The best program to mix music for me has to be Pro Tools. The control you can get from the Digidesign product is far superior to anything else I have ever laid my hands on.
Back in the day I used to use Cubase on my old PC which was quite good for handling midi, but the mixing console never quite felt up to scratch.
With a basic version of Pro Tools you can build you mix on 24 virtual tracks and add FX and buses to each one.
Every new version that comes out adds more and more features making Pro Tools the daddy of music mixing.
